I'm going to be an aunt... again!

In April 2008 my little brother Andrew & his at the time girlfriend Jerrica, now wife gave birth to their son Cayden Andrew.

{Isn't he just adorable}

My little sister Samantha sent me a text message this past weekend telling me that she wanted some "sisterly.bonding.time". She never wants to hang out with me... because I live so.far.away. {a whole hour} I knew something was up, but took it as it came.

When she got here we just hung out, ordered dinner, normal stuff... throughout small talk my little sister told me that she was moving into her own place... soon. That grandpa bought her new tires, and other small repairs on her car. She told me that she, all by herself replaced a small window in the back of her car... she quit smoking. The list of small things goes on and on. Before she told me I said... Samantha are you pregnant. She just looked at me... and then said... how did you know? And Rick chimmed in - Samantha she's not dumb, she knows everything. {haha - I do know everything} Even if my grandpa, grandma, aunts, uncles, mom, brother Andrew, my step mom, and my sister Page, brother Kyle... EVERYONE knew that Samantha was expecting a whole month before she told me. Samantha & her boyfriend Brandon are 7 weeks along. Good luck & congratulations you two.

Alot has happened...

over the past 15 days while I have been missing.
{sorry for keeping you all hanging around}

Here's a little peek into my life over the last 15 days...

I found out that i'm going to be an auntie again... & that I am the last to find out {i'll discuss that story this week too}
I drove 5 hours - by myself for a mini vacation to Pittsburgh with my sister Stephanie {i'll post more pics soon I also took some video

My car had over $300 of repairs
Rick surprised me with a new pair of TOMS! & bought another pair for himself!
I spring cleaned & bought a new rug for our kitchen.
& the last of the news... Rick & I are on day 4 of P90X & it's kicking our butts!

& don't worry i'll be back soon. I have the rest of the week off of work for "spring break"... next week is going to be nuts at work that is.. because the kiddos have spring break.

& after dinner we ran home to change into something more cozy because lets face it... who are we trying to impress in a dark theatre? &aside from that we wanted to be comfortable. {sorry we were in a hurry no pics of my sweat pants} {smile}

{funny story}

later Friday evening ricky wasn't feel well so he "camped out" {at our house that means he volunteerly slept on the couch} It was for my own clean.air.good - so i'm not upset, plus i got to sleep in the middle of the bed. can't beat that. Saturday morning i asked him how his playstation was he quickly lied &said he didn't play. then was dying to tell me that his team made it to the superbowl {the detroit lions} {ha} & told me the truth, sort of. he said he played until 2am. & now it is saturday morning 9am & he only has one more game to left to play &then he is going to be done with his season and will give the playstation to his twin brother scott {sorry.Leigh}. I asked rick why he didn't finish his last game the last night. he said he was too tired. i looked at him and said... 2am isn't that late. he laughed and said to me, "oh it was really 3:30am &i couldn't keep my eyes open any longer." {Oh.My.} i laughed... i knew he was up half the night when "he didn't feel good"&i'm not upset because that dang playstation is out.of.here at least for another month.

my neighbors dog to zip.it!

i was happy when my smoke.like.a.chimney neighbor moved because when spring comes my hubby & i are going to open our windows wide open without her lovely smokey scent blowing into our condo.

when the new girl moved in next door i was excited because she is young-er like.me. BUT then she had to go and get a puppy & being that she works nights her puppy is locked in her condo all.evening.long BARKING. i thought we could be ~~friends~~ until last sunday morning when her puppy barked from 6:30am until close to 7:30am AN HOUR. i woke up pissed. stomped.down.the.stairs - hair.a.hot.mess - threw.on.my.boots.&.coat & banged on her door.

i politely told her that it was early and my little brother was over & that we didn't appreciate him now being wide awake at 7am or the fact that her dog just barked for the last hour while she slept through the annoyance. HOW.DOES.THAT.HAPPEN? i told her that i understand she just moved in & i didn't want to get off on the wrong foot... & i don't want to have to report her to the condo association.

it's sad cause i really don't think that she likes me now. & i really did want to be friends BUT i cannot take it any longer. this past week THAT dog...ugh & tonight... 3 hours on & off constant barking.

i'm.so.over.it. & we're ~~tattling.~~ does that make me a mean neighbor?
if we were friends i'd take the dog outside myself to keep it from barking. but.

when rick took the trash out this evening he said to me... "erica when you see that dog you won't hate it as much"... i guess it was sitting in the window looking out at him. (probably saying, "please let me out, please") poor puppy.

i think that is why not everyone should have a dog.
cats are so much better.easier.quieter. need i say more?

plus.dogs don't cuddle up like this while you blog. now do they?

Rick said to me the other day that he is very happy with our new rug & that he thinks it adds character to our dinning room. I would have to agree. I also thinks it makes the walls look a little more yellow.

Here is the dinning room before the lovely Target rug.

I think that it is time for the snow flakes to come down - because YES - they are still hanging in that walk way. On a side note I think the mirror on the wall needs a little something-something to go along side. what do you think?

I also LOVE having a clean kitchen.

I think that I would love our kitchen more with white cabinets, but either way I love seeing it clean.

Finished cleaning the condo (come on over - I don't mind.. the house is clean!)

Picked up 99 cent Coney's for dinnercause my hubby "had a bad day"
Watched HGTV
Painted my nails
Watched hubby nap for 1 2 2 & 1/2 hours... he deserves a nap.

Today sure was Monday.
& trust me I needed no one to remind me.

At work today we got out for lunch 45 minutes late. {ugh}
During my lunch I ran to JoAnn's & at the check out the woman let me use FOUR coupons, that made me not hate Monday as badly. I saved a little over $6!

Speaking of JoAnn's I have been meaning to share my JOANN STEAL from a few weeks ago. Originally $99, on clearance for $24 & because of the broken drawer I got it for 75% off plus an additional 15% {hubby's teacher discount}less than $7.

Isn't she a beauty.

I'm going to buy a small basket to go in place of the broken drawer. :)

This is what I would wear this rainy, dreary & cold afternoon... IF I weren't spending my Friday writing my FINAL hundred point paper for my last week of class!

...have been missing. i caught a awful cold that has thrown me for a loop.

it all began sunday evening.
i worked monday & it made for the worst monday of all time.

i attempted to work tuesday but only made it through the morning with a runny nose, sneezy, watery eye... tension headache, blah. i wouldn't want me working on me if i had braces.

today - i was supposted to work in detroit. as i usually do once a month as a volunteer at covant care clinic where we scan the detroit community in poverty to be canidadites for our orthodontic clinic, basically we make less fortunute detrioters a beautiful smile for way less than the approximate $5,000 beautiful braces smile. it is a lovely thing and i feel so blessed every month i head down to change a detrioters smile, or even their life with a cheerful conversation.

did i mention that it is also my last week of my online class? well, it is! & i have a 100 point paper to write {no pressure}.

i may be missing the rest of the week with you all... but hang in there cause i have pics from the weekend to share, as well as my joann's steal & my american picker style pick.

3. The age I am is    25 {AH!}     and the age I feel is OLD.

4. My favorite place is being home. Snuggled on the couch with a blanket and my hubby.

5. Something I have been procrastinating is   LAUNDRY – this week. But for a while now I’ve been procrastinating on patching up a few painting spots in the kitchen.

6. The last thing I purchased was   an amazing STEAL at JoAnn’s that I plan to share {soon}.

7. The thing I love most about my home is who I share it with. & also the colors my husband and I choose together for each room, it’s cozy & fits us.

Three things that I just couldn't live without...

1. My husband. If I didn't have him I would starve... or eat cereal. All kidding aside, he really is amazing. {today he had a snow day & he cleaned the whole condo}

2. "Fun" earrings. on the days that I work I wear scrubs & not the fun ones you see your dental hygienist wearing... Monday's we wear hot pink, Tuesday's aleo green, Thursday's teal blue & if we happen to work four days in a week then the 4th working day navy blue. boring. & that is why I enjoy wearing "fun" earrings with my boring uniform.

3. My Sperry rain boots. I live in Michigan & if you haven't seen the news lately... Saturday {as you can see in my previous post} was just lovely. 50 {ish} degrees outside & then Sunday out of no where, boom... a shit ton of snow. {excuse my french} My Sperry Top-Sider rain boots make my mornings, especially when I am running late to work and have to truck over large piles of snow, or better yet, un-plowed snowy parking lots!

Sunshine Saturday

Today the Mr. & I escaped our condo for a bit to enjoy the sunshine & basically used the sunny day as an excuse for him to not grade papers & me to not do laundry.
We drove down to my favorite little spot - Kercheval Street in Grosse Pointe.

{La Jolie Rose/ Hannah Bear Boutique} I've window shopped here before because their hours are screwy - today they were open, The Mr. indulged in another pair of TOMS & I drolled over a $30 candle & $198 scarf, needless to say I did not purchase anything.

We HAD to stop at Panera Bread and get our usual...

...Seira turkey on 3-cheese bread & a side of signature mac & cheese.

The lovely Gosse Pointe Street & clock arch.

We also stopped in the local Boarders {which is closing} & it was PACKED, the line was wrapped around and down the book aisles. Mr. asked me what I was doing when he saw my camera out & I simply said blogging later tonight. {wink} He said and I qoute, "OH GOD".

When we got in the car to head back home Mr. said to me... want to take the long way home, aka look at all of the georgous homes - I shook my head yes, this is Lake St. Clair, a lovely view from Jefferson Ave.

This evening we Skyped with Rick's cousin Brian & his wife Amanda in Georgia & video met little miss Maddie (his newest addition) & she is so adorable. I cannot wait to someday have my own little buddle of joy. No rush.

We also watched the movie - "Waiting on Superman" which is a great documentary on America's public schools. I think it's a good watch it for yourself movie to form your own opinion.
Currently the 2011 Slam Dunk contest is on the tv & the Mr. is chatting on the phone somewhere with with 1. his mother. 2. his twin brother Scott or 3. his little brother Kevin. My guess is his mom because she has already been over today for a quick tutorial on a computer program that converts VHS to DVD & phoned twice since... hehe. tecchnology.

V-Day Special

This Valentines Day the Mr. & I did not make big plans or any plans for that matter. We ordered our TOMS (which still haven't shown up on our doorstep) & well that's about it.

Monday morning I woke up (late) ~~as usual for a~~ typical Monday. Said good morning to Rick and wished him a good day at ~~school~~ (work - I always say school because he's a teacher) He said happy Valentines Day sweetie and I had totally forgot, hugged him, kissed him and off he went to ~~school~~ work.

I got out of the shower and walked into our bedroom and there on top of my scrubs was a Toy Story 3 Valentine. Next to my phone was another. And so of course,even though I was running behind I HAD to look for more. And there was. I gathered as many as I could find in plain eyes view and threw them into my Stephanie Dawn bag as I ran out the door to work.

It was the cutest thing. He wrote me little messages in all of them - the special little things. And I smiled all morning.

Finally it was lunch time - I wanted to surprise Rick with lunch not knowing if he had a meeting or what he may have grabbed from home. The only thing that sounded somewhat good and was on the way from my work to his way Subway. So, Subway it was. :) I signed in at the office and walked up the stairs to Mr. Meyer's classroom. This wasn't my first time having lunch with him at school so I knew I was in for being bombarded by middle schoolers. Of course the wooo & awww & are you Mrs. Meyer? Are you his wife? As the kids came out of his classroom to get their lunch's out of their lockers I snuck in, I made it to the other side of the room before he realized it was me. :)

& I didn't wear pink because of Valentines Day... it is really my "Monday" work uniform color. However, I did steal Rick's red long-sleeved Gap shirt to match my red heart earrings. :)

& here Mr. Meyer is showing me his new smart board. Fancy.

I loved our simple Valentines Day. It was perfect.

For dinner Rick made leftover spaghetti & garlic bread, we cuddled and watched The Bachelor & ate Butter Pecan ice cream out of the carton in our bed.

& this Hallmark holiday {Valentines Day} every time this Hallmark commercial played on the tv I smiled - so the second time I heard it I repeated it to Rick & he smiled at me so the week leading up to Valentines Day we heard it a handful of times and every-single time Rick would look over at me waiting for me to repeat the commercial to him. This commercial makes my Valentines Day. Hallmark you are genius.

Yesterday while running errands for work I was in our local JoAnns buying supplies for our marketing project. Standing in a line of 10 plus people the woman behind me asks, "Is your bag Vera Bradley?" I proudly turn to her and say, "No, mam... it's Stephanie Dawn, Made in U.S.A (smile) when Vera sent her bags to China to be made Stephanie Dawn began making her own bags in the U.S.A. Oh and I informed her that their better made and even MORE affordable than Vera. She asked me again the name of my bag & said she loved the print and I think we have a new Stephanie Dawn fan!

The TV show/website that I watch/read that I would be embarrassed to tell anyone about is Pretty Little Liars. (my sister in-law LeighAnn & someday sister in Law September were chatting about it & I felt left out.) :) So, I too like LeighAnn HuLu(ed) it over Christmas time and watched the entire first season and I too am hooked. Last Monday I almost cheated to figure out who “A” is... but I didn’t.

An item of clothing that is worn and torn but that I love far too much to throw away is my hubby’s high school soccer sweat shirt – it’s worn but cozy.

My grocery store impulse buy is a kid-like box of cereal or a Bingo lottery scratch off, or a Red Box rental.

Something I do at work to pass time that I wouldn't want my co-workers to know about is – this doesn’t happen because I have patients back-to-back & not even a second to take a potty break. (you asked)

One thing in my life that I could give up, but never will is my love for cereal.

A little indulgence that I have is my bed head shampoo/conditioner obsession.

The junk drawer/area in my house is by the back door. It holds spare keys, pens, post-its and other small items I find laying around.

1. What is your occupation? I am an Orthodontic Tech, which means I do what you think the orthodontist would do, but I do it - because it is charted to be done, and they check my work afterwards. I am also going to school and someday will finish my Master's in Social Work.

2. What is your favorite resturant or food? Mine is Mexican & the hubby and I both love Qdoba & Xochimilco in Detroit, MI.

3. Where is your favorite place to vacation? Any vacation is good with me, honestly. But I have been wanting to go to Italy & I AM THIS SUMMER! Really. We bought our plane tickets earlier this week for June 2011. Yipppee.

"Amuse Me"...

...I said to Rick as I took his picture on my Droid drinking his favorite Panera Bread Wild Berry (low fat) smoothie.

Since his "big" doctor appt. when they put him out cold he has been addicted to these $4.99 plus tax drinks. (they Are worth it!)

Back to the day he became addicted.
I was driving him home from his appointment when we stopped at a local Panera Bread drive thru. We ordered our usual. Driving home as Rick fell in and out of consciousness, when he did wake he said the most bizzar things. When I asked him if he liked his smoothie - he told me that the big straw made it taste EVEN better. At that time it was so funny because he loopy and half awake and gosh the whole day was entertainment. the straw story just made it.

Tonight we took a trip to Kerchival Street & had yummy Panera bread Siera Turkey sandwiches, mine on three cheese bread and his on the regular & don't forget the signature mac & cheese. (& ff course Rick's smoothie) This is our usual. Yum!

{SuperBowl Sunday} I opted out of many get togethers.
& I do feel bad for not being there{with you all}. Honestly.

But I do really need to finish homework.
And frankly I am going to take advantage of this circumstance & just enjoy my quiet evening - all to myself.

My agenda:
First finish homework.
Work out with my Turbo DVD
Take a long relaxing shower
Paint my nails
Watch a chick flick - cuddle with Maxey & inhale a frozen strawberry daiquiri.

My favorite part of my evening agenda is none of what I listed involves cleaning the condo! And NONE involves Super Bowl football or Sports Center for that matter! {Don't get my wrong Ricky - I love you & that you love sports as much as you do.}

1. How did you spend your weekend?

1. Friday I had the day off work. I spent the day doing laundry, putting laundry away, "pickup" the codo, & doing homework until Rick got home from teaching. We went out to dinner in Detroit (my favorite city in the whole world) at (almost) my favorite restaurant in Detroit, except we tried the Mexican restaurant across the street instead, with my grandpa, his fiance' my little sister & my mom (who is in town from Georgia). After dinner we went to the local Mexican Village Bakery & my grandpa treated us to $29.75 of goodies. (Rick & I split a $1 Cinnamon stick.) Rick & I traveled home and his younger brother came over for some brotherly bonding - I fell asleep.

2. Friday it was plain COLD. Today (Saturday) it is snowing CATS & DOGS. Sunday is pending.

3. On work days I begin my mornings with snoozing my phone at least three times, and in between yelling at Rick to turn off his alarm as well. I shower (quickly) while showering scream goodbye to Rick as he leaves for school (teaching), put on my under garments, including socks and blow dry my hair (again quickly) put on makeup, throw on my scrubs (I work as an Ortho Tech) & ~~walk~~ RUN out the door, drive less than 5 minutes, run into work, clock in & all while doing so praying that I am not tardy. (most of the time I am by 1 minute).

AKA I am NOT a morning person!

On my days off (which I adore & often abuse) I sleep in 'til I feel like getting out of bed, usually around 10am. I stroll down the stairs in my PJ's I turn on the tv to Let's Make A Deal, during a commercial I pour a bowl of cereal. Snuggle up on the couch and watch the rest of LMAD, then Price Is Right with Drew Carey. Then I shower and usually clean, run errands & do homework. I cherish my days off. :)

This evening the Mr. & I took a trip to Target to get out of our house after being cooped up all day with piles & piles of snow outside.

At Target I bought two cute shirts.
A plain short sleve purple tee for a whopping $4.98
& a peach stripe tee for $14.99

{I love them both & when I wear them i'll of course post pics.}

As Rick and I were leaving Target I asked him, "so you didn't find any good deals?"
and he replied, "nothing that I could justify." and I asked him, "what does that mean? like no good dress shirt deals?" (with a giggle) he says, "yea, something like that. I guess I just couldn't justify another tv."
I laughed.

Don't worry, he got a treat for being so good - I bought him a berry McDonald's smootie on our way to his parents. I can't say i'm not jealous - because I am. But Rick has another snow day tomorrow & I have to work. ALL-DAY even a meeting at lunch. UGH.

These are a few of my Favorite things...

I adore my Sperry Top Sider Rain Boots I got for Christmas from my in-laws... I wear them almost everyday, rain or snow. They even keep my feet warm with the felt boot liner. :)

These are my Millie Meyer Pearls - they were my husbands late grandmas costume pearls. & I love them. Especially the little details of the colored pearls, their little flowers with leaves. ♥

Yesterday I wore my Millie Meyer Pearls with my grey cashmere sweater & jeans...

...I took lunch to the Mr. in my MM Pearls, grocery shopped, cleaned out the fridge & swepted & mopped the kitchen floor - all in my Millie Meyer Pearls & Cashmere sweater. I felt like a domostic house wife with class, or so I told my husband.

Breakfast for Dinner

I must confess I am a sucker for breakfast at dinnertime. Well, actually I could eat breakfast everyday for every meal, especially but not limited to cereal!

This evening my husband had a teaching meeting after a full day of well, teaching & this evening he has soccer conditioning with his JV girls. So needless to say I was in charge of cooking dinner. And if you've learned anything about me it is that I CANNOT COOK.
ANYTHING.
Really.
I over boil water.
Over cook mac & cheese.
It is pretty much hopeless.

But tonight I took a shot at it.
& I made...
Banana-nut pancakes.
They were delicious.
& I only burnt two of them. :)

I used a box of good ol' Hungry Jack Mix

added some cinnamon & vanilla for extra yummy-ness

crushed up some nuts and put it in the batter

poured the mix into the pan and added a few slices of banana

& wha-la, pure delicious banana-nut pancakes.

Even the Mr. love them.

Another one of my new FAVORITES as of recently {thanks again to my local RITE AID} is TIGI BED HEAD Self Absorbed Shampoo & Conditioner it smells like oranges which isn't my favorite part but how my hair feels & most of all looks after using it is so AMAZING. And plus i've gotten tons of compliments. :) It makes my hair so shinny & not oily - which is a double plus.

But I found them online for less HERE

& I spoke with my hair dresser & she said I could buy them through her for cheaper & even get the BIG bottles. Whooo hoooo.

This afternoon I stopped in my local Rite Aid for a few items & came home with a new FAVORITE.

I purchased a great nail color by SINFUL COLORS which I have never tried before but with a price tag of $1.99 I thought, hmm, why not! & this evening when I used it - it was instant L-O-V-E. The brush is a.m.a.z.i.n.g & it drys SUPER FAST.
& the color I bought is called VACATION TIME. Perfect. Considering we got a ~~bit~~ ton of snow yesterday & it's freezing here in Michigan. I could use a little vacation.

Winter cleaning

This morning and afrernoon the hubs and I took on the basement.

Harlem Globe Trotters

This evening me, my hubs Rick, brother Scott, his wife my sister LeighAnn, brother Kevin & his girlfriend September attended THE BIG CHILL at Michigan's Stadium - The Big House in Ann Arbor.

It was cold... But thankfully we all survived the chilly weather with lots of layers.
Like the hats? I LOVE THEM... & The served their purpose.. Not once was my head or ears cold. :) Early Christmas gift from Scott & LeighAnn to us.

After the game we drove over the river and through the woods to Scott & LeighAnn's for dinner. (I Typed homework while in the car) Hungry Howies pizza, yum... Mine was bacon with pineapple & garlic crust. Delious.

I am officially in my MID-twenties.
And it's killing me.
The big 25.

This past weekend I celebrated my 25th birthday & 6 years of dating/ now married to my hubby.

A few of my favorite birthday gifts were:
::: A massage gift certificate from my husband. -which I plan to use before Christmas so I can get one for Christmas too. ;)
::: An apple corer which is my new favorite kitchen toy that I have used a ton of times already, from my mother-in-law.

::: A hanging jewelry organizer from my brother & sister-in-law.

::: People Style Watch from my sister & a sweater.

::: A brown w/black Coach bag from my hubs.

::: & Money which I plan to buy some brown leather boots, a Michigan VS Pink sweatshirt & two cardi's from Target --- the rest of my bday money I'm saving for a plane ticket to ITALY!

My little brother Ryan spent the night Saturday evening (the night before my birthday) & Sunday morning Rick and Ryan attempted to bake my breakfast muffins but failed because the oven shut off while baking & we had to leave for church. We went to church in Ann Arbor, after we celebrated my birthday (& Craig's) with a huge lunch at Olive Garden with Mary Kay, Craig (whose birthday it was as well), Ryan, Stephanie, Rick and I. Then Rick and I went to the mall where I spent a little birthday moolah and bought an adorable pair of earrings and necklace at one of my favorites stores; Von Maur.

It was a fabulous birthday, that ended with leftover Mexican for dinner and decorating our Christmas tree. :)

This past week at work we had our employee pumpkin contest, last Sunday evening I (with a little help from Rick) completed my entry. And for the record I did the majority of the drawing & painting. And it was ALL my idea.
So, here they are!!!

(yellow's sign reads, "looks like we are in the menu".) Clever, right?

And on Thursday when I brought them home after work, I walked in the door with my M&M's in hand(s) grinning ear to ear because I (yes, ME) won 1st place. And made a whopping $40 & got back my $5 entry moolah! Thank you LPO patients & parents who voted for my M&M guys!

Remember

Today is a day I always remember and will never forget.

13 years ago today my dad passed.

I struggle the most on Oct. 28 writing the date & being that I work at an orthodontist office and write in medical charts all day I wrote the date today, eh, about 20+ times.

The one thing I am proud of today is that I made it through the entire work day with melting down.

During my lunch break today I sat and thought about my dad. I read my little sister's Facebook status & felt tears well up. I read my step moms Facebook status & had my one good cry. My hubby called in the middle of my cry, to see how I was doing today, he helped me make it through today.

After work tonight Rick took me out to dinner to Olive Garden keep my spirits up.

After dinner I came home to my awaiting homework, ugh, and it took me two hours to write three paragraphs of Blah, can I get a redo tomorrow?

Some how I just know my dad would love Rick.
I wish he could be here and see my first place.
Had been at my wedding.
Had seen me graduate high school.
Be here for my younger brother and sister.
Be here for my step mom.

Just be here.
Although he is not here in flesh, he is, and will always be in memory.

So, I registered for a late fall class online. I registered. Paid for the class. And forgot all about it. Until - on Monday at work a gal I work with said her husband was starting his late fall class today, as in Monday... which made me stop and think, I wonder when my class begins. I got home went on the college's website, checked my e-mail.. and natta. Then, I checked my junk mail and there it was, a reminder that class was starting sent the week prior. Grrrrr. So, luckly my co-worker meantioned her husband starting his late fall class, otherwise I would've paid for a class and missed the start date by 10 days. I thought my class started the 28th, not the 18th!!!

So, what am I saying? Class has begun. I did two assignments Tuesday, on my day off, read two "chapters" of powerpoints & just-ordered-my-book-for-class. I pray it comes before Sunday when I have an essay due regarding the text I haven't read!

So, forgive me if I craft less, post pics less, blog less for these next 8 weeks. For the next 8 weeks i'm college bound to my online class Marriage&Family - another requirement working towards my degree in Social Work.

So, wish me luck. And don't leave me i'll be around & i'm reading your blog inbetween assignments. :)

Farmer Rick

On Friday my husbands school is having a Fall fest for the kiddies - kind of like a party for all their hard work these last few weeks during their MEAP testing. And aparently the teachers are going to dress like farmers. :)

Today, I had the day off and I went Target-ing to find my husband a new long sleved plaid shirt, not a hard thing to find considering plaid is ev-er-ywhere.

After Rick got home from work, we ate dinner Lazanna & garlic bread (yummy), then cut up some of our freashly picked orchard apples and mixed yummy toppings, baked & wha-la... apple crisps! (more yummy).

I will leave you a picture that makes me (smile), Rick trying on his new shirt, from Target, along with his late grandfathers square dance belt. {Oh & how can I forget the wheat in his mouth, lol}

Last weekend the hubs and I finally made it to the eye doctors for a much needed eye exam. We both left BLIND. I wish we would've taken a pic in our dorky disposable glasses given to us to protect our eyeballs from the georgous sunshine that morning - but I didn't. Needless to say I left on Saturday with worse eyes since my last exam & lucky dog hubs of mine eyes stayed the same. I left with a brand new pair of contacts (finally - contacts again).

And because we couldn't see clearly last Saturday, me especially because my pupils were the entire eye! & Rick only one eye was really dialated. We waited until this afternoon to go a choose a pair of glasses for each other. Rick decided he didn't want a new pair of sexy specs... but I was in desperate NEED of a new pair. & again I didn't take any pics in any of the glasses I tried on today or the ones that Rick choose for me... but I have searched for a pic online... and here they are. :)

And yupperz, their Coach! :) &because I now have amaZing insurance I only paid $6 for these babies.

They'll arrive in about a week, so i'll post pics in my new sexy specs then.

Tonight, the hubs and I are heading to Detroit's Mexican Village (maybe i'll even sneak a pic of my fav Detroit landmark - Train Depot) to have dinner with my grandpa & his fiance' Peggy and after dinner we're going to show off of very clean condo (because neither of them have been over since we've moved) & it's super clean cause I had yesterday and today off work & all I did was clean!!!! *more about that later.

Ben & Katie

Ben & Katie's blog is about one of the most amazing, God led couples I have ever read about - their people who you may never meet, but you just know that their REAL and that their faith isn't for show.

Katie is so strong and faithful to her Ben, and Ben is a fighter, believer - he is so strong. This couple is amazing and I pray that their story touches many lives. In a recent post Katie asks her blog readers, family & friends to write to Ben to give him encouragement - and with those letters and cards Katie and Ben will open them all together on their 3rd wedding anniversary October 27th. Ben knows nothing about Katie requesting letters on encourgement from readers, family & friends & once they open the letters their going to pin them on Ben's door as daily encouragement from us all.

Yesterday evening, Rick and I wrote an encouragement card and placed it in the mail for Ben and Katie to open on their 3rd year anniversary. It felt good to write a letter of encouragement to two amazing people that seem so strong in their faith - it just shows how everyone needs positive influenece.

Little red... Huh?

This red hot mess idea what I get for buying a box of color of my husbands choice and asking him to color my hair. My roots are bright redish-purple the middle more brown and the bottom red, a hot mess {the pic does no justice}. Needless to say I drove my butt an hour to my hair dressers and prayed they could squeeze me in... So I'm here sitting with {professional}color on my head, wish my hair luck... I'll post after pics later. :)

As you may have read I was forced for better words to paint my lovely sunflower yellow door White... So here is my ugly boring front door, freashly white.

And I also painted the trim around the back door (finally). As well as my bar b-board!

I personally love how the white brightens up the dinning area. And looking at the bar area from my living room I no longer hate the brown b-board - in fact... I love it!

Jane Green LOVE

This past weekend I would had loved to have had my current read in tow...

...during My hour car ride to and from Ann Arbor.

... &especially During my two hour wait at Belle Toe.

But this late afternoon while my lovely husband drooled over the Lions as they- to Rick's dismay, I plowed my way through my remaining 50 pages of the "The Beach House" written by my favorite author Jane Green.

To my favor where I had left off last had me begging for more so the last few pages I had left had me hooked to the end, I barely came up for a breath. Between crazy Nan and her shabby beach house, her insecure son Michael who is horrendous with relationships, Bee her newly "out of the closet" husband Daniel and their lovely daughters & then there's recently divorced Daff and her troubled daughter Jess.

Jane Green has won me over again with this clever read of lies, sex, drama & love. I loved this read!

&&& this evening I walked over to my local Kroger and found Jane Green's newest release "Promises to Keep" on the shelf just shouting my name along with a box of Special K cereal & I just had to have it. So tonight I will lose myself in my newest read.

Goodbye Sunflower Yellow...

I did enjoy my sunflower yellow door while it lasted... A whole 7 days almost to the hour.

Long story short I was called by my condo association and told that if I do not repaint MY front door they were going to fine me! Apparently I can only paint my front door their "brick red" or "pine green" ...barf.

I'm going to miss my sunflower yellow. So, you ask what I accomplished on my Wednesday off... I re-painted the front door plain jane white. And a few others that I'll share on Sunday when I return home from my weekend in Ann Arbor with friends and family.

Yore Wedding

Two Saturday's ago a friend of mine from work tied the knot.
The weather was 30% chance of rain & low 60's.

I will say the future Mrs. seemed stressed the morning of her wedding via Facebook - I decided to write her a little Facebook message of encouragement... especially because that morning it was raining & I knew that was a little disappointing. The rain held off for The Yore's outdoor reception - not a rain drop in site... and the Christmas lights that lit the courtyard set the mood for a relaxing dinner reception.

Weekend Contractor Construction

Over the weekend we finally got the rest of the contractor - construction projects completed around the house that were out of our hands.

My step dad came along with my uncle and...
- hung our back screen door
- hung our closet door in our bedroom
- our dishwasher is finally mounted so when I open it to load or unload the dishes it won't fall on me!
- placed the window ceil granite in the kitchen window
- blew {green} insullation in our attic - so now we won't freeze!
- & hung the hand railings to the basement stairs & upstairs
(& now hopefully Rick won't fall down the basement stairs again - & to insure that we bought special paint to paint the basement stairs because my step dad almost fell down the basement stairs himself while he was here working.)

I'm so happy because our house is beginning to feel ever more like a home with everything finally coming together. Gosh, it should be because we've lived here for almost 3 months.

This week I have Wednesday & Friday off work again, so I plan to finish some renovations around the house...
- touch up paint on hand rails
- sand and paint under window ceils
- paint trim around back door
- paint under breakfast bar
- paint footboard and molding going upstairs
- paint basement stairs with "no slip" paint

Ugh, I really am not looking forward to painting.

I'll post some pics of my contrator - construction projects that went on this past weekend.
& of course of my Wednesday & Friday off painting projects this week.

&&& hopefully {soon} i'll be able to share my entire condo makeover with you all. :) :) :)

Dreaming Nightmares

Have you ever had a dream where you woke up and said...
WHAT THE HECK?
or
THAT BETTER NOT HAPPEN?

Well I had one of those the other night... those dreams/ nightmares. I woke up (Rick wakes up before me and gets ready for his day while I snooze on somedays for an extra 20 minutes, but on this day was my late evening at work so I don't go into the office until 9am, so I got to go back to sleep for 1 1/2 hours. Anyways, back to my dream/ nightmare... I had woken up while he was getting ready and immediatly told him my dream - we had four girls, QUADRUPLETS in my dream I didn't actually birth them thank God, but I had had them and they were ours and the whole dream was Rick and I trying to name our four daughters and all of the names we've ever said we liked we couldn't remember and every name we suggested to each other we didn't agree on. And all I kept thinking is how are we going to sleep with four babies. And then we agreed on a name... wait for it... SKYLA. What?
And that is when I woke up, told Rick our daughters name is Skyla and just like me... in real life neither of us like that name, thank goodness. And I began telling Rick about our four daughters and all he could say is that he doesn't want FOUR GIRLS. Haha. And I tried to tell him my entire dream but I was still half asleep and he had to head to work. All I kept thinking all day at work is... gosh, we better not have four girls, or quadruplets and thankfully Rick agreed!

Successful Crafty Wednesday

Today, on my day off I accomplished alot of painting on my Crafty Wednesday "to-do-list.

So without further-a-do...

1) BLACK project

This is not a giant picture frame it is orginally a GOLD mirror that I picked up at a garage sale last year... Rick painted it Silver & now I painted it black. I will post pics of my bedroom once it's hung in it's new home. :)

2) Sunflower Yellow Project

I think the door was still wet in these pics because it is not that bright of a yellow.

When Rick arrived home from Open House this evening the first thing he said to me is that he loved the door and it's looks sweet from the road. Success!!!

Oh, and in the before and after pics can you tell I cleaned the screen door? It was nasty-dirty.

I will post a better pic tomorrow with my new MUMS that I picked up this evening at Kroger.

3) Tiffany Blue - I never made it to this project, I suppose it will have to wait 'til next Wednesday

4) Kitchen trim - I never made it to this little project either... next Wednesdat it is.

5) JOANNS - I did make it to JoAnns this evening and came away with way more than I intended... more on that later. BUT I did get what I had set out to buy at JOANNS in the first place; paint, stencils & this frame...

This lovely black oval frame orginally $19.99 on sale for just under $12.

AND there it is my final CRAFY WEDNESDAY - Do-It-Yourself Project - silhouettes of Rick & I that I made a few weeks back but didn't have the desired frame to show off my DIY silhouettes.

Crafty Wednesday

Last day of Summer

Today is September 21, 2010, the last day of summer & what a great last day of summer it ended to be. Although I worked all day today, the weather was lovely and I was able to sneak out for lunch and enjoy a few moments of sunny 80 degrees.

And this evening Rick and I took a trip to Lowes to grab a few items for my Wednesday day-off-work projects I have planned tomorrow. :) More on that tomorrow. After our trip to Lowes we went for an evening stroll and only found it fitting being the last evening of summer and a nice evening at that to get 7-Eleven Slurpees. YUM.

Christmas in September?

This morning my husband is going through ALL of the music on his computer & when he can to "Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow" he played the whole song through rather than just 10 seconds, I stopped everything I was doing and asked him, "What are you doing?" and he replied, "Shhh. Can't you just picture the snow falling, snowmen, ice skating, ice hockey... where are we going to put our Christmas tree this year?"

WHAT? I'm totally not thinking about snow or Christmas, there are still green leaves on the trees! Come-on-now Rick! :)

Gosh, I love my husband - sometimes he is so strange.

(I cannot believe I haven't shared this little project with you yet)

Back in July, Rick and I went for a walk around the neighborhood & being that it was Sunday evening, the night before trash night everyone had their smelly stinky garbage out. And just then I discovered a little park bench, with someones smelly garbage thrown on top of my new treasure. I was so excited, Rick on the other hand wasn't thrilled about carrying my new treasure 2 blocks back home. In my opinion it was well worth it! :)

Wednesday evening I got a little carried away at Gilbert's Hardware Store & spent $22.21 (great numbers by the way) but I went in for ONE can of spray paint and clearly with the total I came out with a more than one spray can.

Prinkles Please

My new celly has arrived! :)

& I ordered (drum roll please...)

The DROID X, it came last Tuesday & I'm happy to say a week later, i'm finally getting the hang of it. It does SOOO much like checks my blog and other blogs, facebook, keeps track of my calorie intake each day, tracks my work outs, games, music and so very much more! It's amazing!

& so far I LOVE IT!
not so sure i'm going to like the increase in cell phone bill... but i'm getting so much more for the money. :)

Weekend Quotes

This past weekend Rick and I had my little brother Ryan spend the night. He came out Friday evening & we took him back home Sunday morning.

Here's a few cute things the adorable four year old said this weekend...

[Rick passed gas in the car, he rolled the windows down & Ryan said he was cold & I told him you can be cold your smell stinky Ricky & he told Rick...] "Oh man Rick! Get the heck outta here."

"Are we there yet..." on our car ride to church, back to his house... I told Ryan remember my house is far from yours, we have 45 minutes still - that's almost 2 Zack & Cody's, Ryan told me something along the lines of he knew because he's been to my house before "Duh".

& for some reason this weekend Ryan would walk up to me, or Rick or any of Rick's family and say, "Well hello pretty lady". We cracked up and said who taught you that and he told me "I thought it would be funny, I am a funny guy & I like to laugh". Well, okay.

& my favorite quote of the evening while watching the MTV music awards with the hubby.
Rick: "She is so full of herself - it's annoying." As Lady GaGa comes out to accept her award in a giant ugly dress with people holding her dress because it's so heavy & she didn't think to wear something less heavy to accept all her awards.

I will admit she has good songs - but i'm not really a fan of her.

Happy birthday to my brother in-law Kevin! The big 2-0!
