Yore Wedding

Two Saturday's ago a friend of mine from work tied the knot.
The weather was 30% chance of rain & low 60's.

I will say the future Mrs. seemed stressed the morning of her wedding via Facebook - I decided to write her a little Facebook message of encouragement... especially because that morning it was raining & I knew that was a little disappointing. The rain held off for The Yore's outdoor reception - not a rain drop in site... and the Christmas lights that lit the courtyard set the mood for a relaxing dinner reception.

Congratulations to the NEWLYWEDS!

Weekend Contractor Construction

Over the weekend we finally got the rest of the contractor - construction projects completed around the house that were out of our hands.

My step dad came along with my uncle and...
- hung our back screen door
- hung our closet door in our bedroom
- our dishwasher is finally mounted so when I open it to load or unload the dishes it won't fall on me!
- placed the window ceil granite in the kitchen window
- blew {green} insullation in our attic - so now we won't freeze!
- & hung the hand railings to the basement stairs & upstairs
(& now hopefully Rick won't fall down the basement stairs again - & to insure that we bought special paint to paint the basement stairs because my step dad almost fell down the basement stairs himself while he was here working.)

I'm so happy because our house is beginning to feel ever more like a home with everything finally coming together. Gosh, it should be because we've lived here for almost 3 months.

This week I have Wednesday & Friday off work again, so I plan to finish some renovations around the house...
- touch up paint on hand rails
- sand and paint under window ceils
- paint trim around back door
- paint under breakfast bar
- paint footboard and molding going upstairs
- paint basement stairs with "no slip" paint

Ugh, I really am not looking forward to painting.

I'll post some pics of my contrator - construction projects that went on this past weekend.
& of course of my Wednesday & Friday off painting projects this week.

&&& hopefully {soon} i'll be able to share my entire condo makeover with you all. :) :) :)

Dreaming Nightmares

Have you ever had a dream where you woke up and said...

Well I had one of those the other night... those dreams/ nightmares. I woke up (Rick wakes up before me and gets ready for his day while I snooze on somedays for an extra 20 minutes, but on this day was my late evening at work so I don't go into the office until 9am, so I got to go back to sleep for 1 1/2 hours. Anyways, back to my dream/ nightmare... I had woken up while he was getting ready and immediatly told him my dream - we had four girls, QUADRUPLETS in my dream I didn't actually birth them thank God, but I had had them and they were ours and the whole dream was Rick and I trying to name our four daughters and all of the names we've ever said we liked we couldn't remember and every name we suggested to each other we didn't agree on. And all I kept thinking is how are we going to sleep with four babies. And then we agreed on a name... wait for it... SKYLA. What?
And that is when I woke up, told Rick our daughters name is Skyla and just like me... in real life neither of us like that name, thank goodness. And I began telling Rick about our four daughters and all he could say is that he doesn't want FOUR GIRLS. Haha. And I tried to tell him my entire dream but I was still half asleep and he had to head to work. All I kept thinking all day at work is... gosh, we better not have four girls, or quadruplets and thankfully Rick agreed!

Successful Crafty Wednesday

Today, on my day off I accomplished alot of painting on my Crafty Wednesday "to-do-list.

So without further-a-do...

1) BLACK project

This pic was taken over the weekend when I had Rick tape off my mirror for me. :) Thanks Ricky!

This is not a giant picture frame it is orginally a GOLD mirror that I picked up at a garage sale last year... Rick painted it Silver & now I painted it black. I will post pics of my bedroom once it's hung in it's new home. :)

2) Sunflower Yellow Project

Say "hi" to Max's tail.

I think the door was still wet in these pics because it is not that bright of a yellow.
When Rick arrived home from Open House this evening the first thing he said to me is that he loved the door and it's looks sweet from the road. Success!!!
Oh, and in the before and after pics can you tell I cleaned the screen door? It was nasty-dirty.
I will post a better pic tomorrow with my new MUMS that I picked up this evening at Kroger.

3) Tiffany Blue - I never made it to this project, I suppose it will have to wait 'til next Wednesday

4) Kitchen trim - I never made it to this little project either... next Wednesdat it is.

5) JOANNS - I did make it to JoAnns this evening and came away with way more than I intended... more on that later. BUT I did get what I had set out to buy at JOANNS in the first place; paint, stencils & this frame...

This lovely black oval frame orginally $19.99 on sale for just under $12.
AND there it is my final CRAFY WEDNESDAY - Do-It-Yourself Project - silhouettes of Rick & I that I made a few weeks back but didn't have the desired frame to show off my DIY silhouettes.

Hope it was worth your wait!
I'm off to bed, sweet dreams.

Last day of Summer

Today is September 21, 2010, the last day of summer & what a great last day of summer it ended to be. Although I worked all day today, the weather was lovely and I was able to sneak out for lunch and enjoy a few moments of sunny 80 degrees.

And this evening Rick and I took a trip to Lowes to grab a few items for my Wednesday day-off-work projects I have planned tomorrow. :) More on that tomorrow. After our trip to Lowes we went for an evening stroll and only found it fitting being the last evening of summer and a nice evening at that to get 7-Eleven Slurpees. YUM.

Hope you all enjoyed your last day of summer... share your last day of summer with me in my comments, i'd love to hear what you did on this fab evening!

... and last but not least birthday wishes to my sister in-law LeighAnn on her 24th!

Off to watch the Premiere of "Detroit 187" on ABC and if you knew me and my husband you would know that we both LOVE Detroit - i'm totally obsessed.
You can see a trailer for the TV show HERE.

Christmas in September?

This morning my husband is going through ALL of the music on his computer & when he can to "Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow" he played the whole song through rather than just 10 seconds, I stopped everything I was doing and asked him, "What are you doing?" and he replied, "Shhh. Can't you just picture the snow falling, snowmen, ice skating, ice hockey... where are we going to put our Christmas tree this year?"

WHAT? I'm totally not thinking about snow or Christmas, there are still green leaves on the trees! Come-on-now Rick! :)

Gosh, I love my husband - sometimes he is so strange.

Before & After Bench

(I cannot believe I haven't shared this little project with you yet)

Back in July, Rick and I went for a walk around the neighborhood & being that it was Sunday evening, the night before trash night everyone had their smelly stinky garbage out. And just then I discovered a little park bench, with someones smelly garbage thrown on top of my new treasure. I was so excited, Rick on the other hand wasn't thrilled about carrying my new treasure 2 blocks back home. In my opinion it was well worth it! :)

Nothing a few cans of paint couldn't fix. :)

Park Bench - FREE
Two cans of spray paint - $8

Don't worry I will post my 1st crafty-ness SOON... & update you on my DIY project list.

Prinkles Please

As a child I adored vanilla ice cream with sprinkles (or as a little girl I would call it prinkles or shrinkles) and this week I had been craving it so bad... And being that I have the greatest husband ever he took me out for ice cream.

And I was like a happy kid in an ice cream parlor.

Weekend Quotes

This past weekend Rick and I had my little brother Ryan spend the night. He came out Friday evening & we took him back home Sunday morning.

Here's a few cute things the adorable four year old said this weekend...

[Rick passed gas in the car, he rolled the windows down & Ryan said he was cold & I told him you can be cold your smell stinky Ricky & he told Rick...] "Oh man Rick! Get the heck outta here."

"Are we there yet..." on our car ride to church, back to his house... I told Ryan remember my house is far from yours, we have 45 minutes still - that's almost 2 Zack & Cody's, Ryan told me something along the lines of he knew because he's been to my house before "Duh".

& for some reason this weekend Ryan would walk up to me, or Rick or any of Rick's family and say, "Well hello pretty lady". We cracked up and said who taught you that and he told me "I thought it would be funny, I am a funny guy & I like to laugh". Well, okay.

& my favorite quote of the evening while watching the MTV music awards with the hubby.
Rick: "She is so full of herself - it's annoying." As Lady GaGa comes out to accept her award in a giant ugly dress with people holding her dress because it's so heavy & she didn't think to wear something less heavy to accept all her awards.

I will admit she has good songs - but i'm not really a fan of her.

Happy birthday to my brother in-law Kevin! The big 2-0!

Hope you all are enjoying the last few hours of your weekend! I know I am because I am NOT ready for MONday. Ugh.

Labor Day Weekend...

What we did this l-o-n-g weekend...

I had breakfast with my FAVORITE Kari.

& we took a group pic of all of my favs after breakfast before Josh headed back to the big "sand box" & Kari leaves me for Italy.

We spent the afternoon watching the Michigan game/ girls playing board games, eatting too much pizza, boys played PS2 Madden & girls crafted

Me, Rick, my brother Kyle & his girlfriend Brittany (the two in the middle above) woke up before 10am & got watched our RedBox rental "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" (very cute movie - reminded Rick a lot of when he was in middle school, so he said.) took at trip to Auburn Hills to Great Lakes Crossing Mall - IT IS A HUGE mall. I'm very proud to say... Rick & I bought nothing. & I returned a purse {that I just couldn't justify spending the $ on} so a good chunk of mooolah back in our pockets! Kyle & Brittany bought matching shoes for back-to-school [awwww... how cute.]

Sunday evening I played MADDEN 2010 with Rick - & I didn't hate it! We shut off the PS to watch the premiere of "All American Handyman" on HGTV it wasn't anything real special. Afterwards we watched another RedBox rental...

then called it a night.

We slept in 'til noon. (amazing)
Ate brunch.
Talked about lesson planning.
I blogged for inspiration. He planned lessons.
I watched TV. He planned lessons.
We ate homemade pizza & salad at the in-laws.
We got home by 11pm & hit the sack.

[Back to work for me.]

No Secret

I have a SECRET to tell you & my blog.

Your PINK line is adorable I must confess. I loved your 5 for $25 panties, (it was a "STEAL" for comfort and style) however, THIS time i'm SUPER disappointed. Less than a year ago I got an amazing pair of Lace-inset Hipster's & they were perfect, a little lace & cotton for comfort, perfect. BUT this time NOT so much, I wore each pair ONCE, uno, one time & washed & the lace is ripped on each pair - really? That's $25 down the drain. And customer service... oh geeez, customer service wants me to take my worn panties to the store... their clean and all but really? REALLY!?

I want my $25 back or at least a new style.
Any suggestions followers?

Mr. Meyer is ready...

... for SCHOOL to begin!

This past Wednesday, during my lunch break I called Rick Mr. Meyer & asked if we could have lunch together, lately he has been spending alot of time at school getting his classroom ready & lesson finished before the start of school. He said he wanted to Taco Bell -- so Taco Bell it was. We'll take a #6 with Cherry Coke & #4 with Ice Tea.

[Ewww to my nappy work hair, lack of makeup & bright blue scrubs... on a side note I am so proud of my hubby-teacher Mr. Meyer!]

After indulging in our Taco Bell I decided to take some new pics of his finished classroom - I told him it was for THE blog. If you missed the BEFORE pics view The Hubs Classroom

Here are the AFTER pics {enjoy}
[This is the front and left side of Mr. Meyer's classroom. This is the "Social Studies" wall & the black bookshelf has a ton of social study books that one day appeared in his room - all brand new books, gotta love that.]
[This is the front and right side of the classroom.. {remember the student desks face each other} Above the white board are posted of types of writing. & the bulletin board has been split in 1/2. The green side will be for "Current Events"]

[This is the left side of the room standing in the front, the posters are for Language Arts & the posters on the right are Reach Academy "CHAMPS"/ classroom management posters.]

[There's Mr. Meyer! :) I'm standing in the front of the room, on the left is Mr. Meyer's desk (which was covered in papers and books and I teased Mr. Meyer that, "I thought your desk was always going to be clean" (wink)) Under the US Soccer poster is going to be where Mr. Meyer lists the soccer games for the Reach Middle School (soccer) boys he will be coaching this fall. and the black bookcase holds markers, colored pencils, pencils, glue sticks, rulers, dictionaries, games, etc.]
[This is Mr. Meyer's hallway bulletin board that has to be changed every month! Geee Whizzz. And those letters there... well, I did that with the Cricket!]

After spending about 45minutes with Mr. Meyer for lunch in his classroom I took off back to work and got s-e-r-i-o-u-s-l-y EVERY light red... but still made it back just-in-time for my first patient following lunch. The rest of the work day is history.

& when I got out of work I was extreemly productive - beginning with making a quick grocery list:
milk    tp   tooth pas   sham   deo for R & E   chips   brd   dish soap   p towel
(that's my short hand grocery list)

After running to Kroger I popped some Mac & Cheese in the microwave & called it dinner.
I did laundry, put away laundry
Cleaned the bathroom, litter box & did dishes
& did Turbo (my legs are feeling it tonight)

Sometime during my busy evening I got a text from Rick (who was at school for an open house for his students last name A-J until 8pm)
& my favorite part of the text "...thank you for all your help getting my classroom ready, muah"

PRO-DUCT-IVE evening!

TONIGHT we are heading over to the in-laws for Homemade pizza & salad where Mr. Meyer will work with twin brother teacher Mr. Meyer & his wife teacher Mrs. Meyer on lesson plans and classroom management.

I suppose i'll read my book "The Beach House" {I haven't picked it up all weekend}.

i want. i love. i have.

i want. husband back.

This whole new job thing is taking over his life. :)
I'm really not upset, I know that with the year school just around the corner Rick is starting to stress with it being his first year teaching & with the amount of last minute classroom preparation requirements & lesson plans that need to be approved that the school is throwing at him. It will settle once the school year begins and he gets in the groove of things - no worries.

My hard working teacher/hubby making calls to his home room students reminding them of Open House.
i love.

My YELLOW Kitchen. Just yesterday I told Rick that the kitchen (& well, livingroom too- but right now my focus is the kitchen) is my new favorite room(s) in our condo. & right now, that little corner arrangement of IKEA goods makes me :) [smile].

i have.

i have... read to chapter 16 (so far) in "The Beach House" & Jane Green, you haven't disappointed me yet.

i have... to TurboKick after this post.

i have... become ADDICTED to blogging!!!

Good Read

In my last post My mini (click on it if you missed it) I mentioned my favorite memoir "A Piece of Cake" by Cupcake Brown... I didn't want to leave you hanging about it because it was a GREAT book and a SuPER interesting read.

Cupcake is a young girl who had been through it all: foster care, gangs, prostitution, drug and alcohol addiction, abuse and homeless she really went through it all, changed her life for the better and today is a successful lawyer.

If you want a little more details...
Here is an editorial review from Booklist:
"Cupcake (La'Vette) Brown went from the relative security of life in a working-class neighborhood of San Diego to hardship and uncertainty when, at the age of 11, her mother died. Her estranged biological father lost interest when an expected insurance payout didn't materialize, and Cupcake and her brother were left with a merciless foster mother and her abusive son. Unable to take the mistreatment, Cupcake drifted into a life of prostitution, drug addiction, gang affiliation, stealing, homelessness, and any available means of survival. Her salvation comes in an unlikely group of fellow addicts who encourage her to change. Brown takes the same fortitude it took to survive the streets and uses it to become a lawyer. Her story of survival and triumph is incredible and often rough. Readers who like gritty, urban nonfiction will enjoy this book."

I recommend this read to anyone. :)  & once I gradutate with my Master of Social Work these are the kids i'm looking forward to working with.

My mini

I never got to tell the story of my mini HP... so here it is.

♥ ♥ ♥

At the beginning of the summer I had vowed to go back to school - I registered for two online classes, Abnormal Psychology & Sociology to  work towards my Social Work Degree. I had taken a break from school back in 2007 because I did not know what I wanted to do for the rest of my life -- but after really thinking about it and reading an AmAziNg book "A Piece of Cake" by Cupcake Brown I had made up my mind... social work it is!

I kept complaining about using my husbands lap top because it often over heated & when I wanted to use it he was, or when he needed it I was using it. Rick decided that it was time to get me my very first lap top of my own... like most high school graduates I did not buy a lap top, I bought a desk top that had many virsus this six years later. One day I had come home from work on my lunch break & there was a big brown box at my door. I took the box inside and immediatley called Rick to demand to know what he had bought online. He told me to open it... and so I did.

Yippppee!!! My very own MINI!!!

I was sooooo excited. I think I had tears. :)

Almost TOO excited. :) :) :)

My mini HP next to Rick's big daddy HP. ;)

I LOVE my mini!!!!

&&& I love my hubby for surprising me with a great "back to college" gift.
My mini has not only helped me stay organized with my online classes from this summer but has got me back into BLOGGING! Whoo hooo! & it is SO perfect back it does not over heat the battery life is awesome & it weighs less than 5 lbs. Amazing. What can I say... i'm in La La L-O-V-E!!!
